Feel quite sad today..

I've read lots of things where people say they knew what they were doing when an iconic person such as JFK and Elvis died. I'm afraid I don't as I was too young - certainly when JFK was assassinated. However this week we've had the sad passing of Michael Jackson. His music certainly paid a biggish part in my teenage years for sure. I always really liked his music and always felt just a tiny bit sorry for him. OK he was rich but I don't think he had a life of his own. Part of the price of fame I suppose. Anyway just for the record I was icing cakes when I heard - totally shocked. I suppose what makes it worse is another case of 'alledged' prescription drug abuse too. Makes it even sadder for his children. So I was half watching his Top 40 Hits today my favourite MJ song was number 1, Earth Song. I'm going to link the video. However me being me I'll have to work it out later.

RIP Michael.

Summer?

Hi Blogettes - so yesterday was the longest day.... the start of the summer... OK who forgot to tell that to the weather! I mean its quite warm here today but we have not seen one sniff of the sun! I know its a bonus that its not raining... but I know it won't as I've put all my plants in the garden now which usually kick-starts a drought!

It was sunny yesterday though - I was inside for most of it at the Stamp Magic show at the Dome - typical huh? I had a great time. I met up with quite a few people who I know and had such a laugh. I met Bev and duly handed over the cake! Boy can she drool.... anyway while discussing a few, ahem 'issues', with my distress ink painting I got plonked in a chair on the demo table! Yipes! I mean this was in front of PEOPLE!!! Anyway with Bev's spare water brush at my temple and one arm up my back I cracked it! I also made the ladies watching have a laugh. I think they realised that if this fool (me) can do it anyone can! So I hope you enjoyed the cake Bev.

So onto my card for this weeks challenge over at Cute Daisy May I set the challenge this week to include animals on your card. The girls really came up trumps - but then again they always do!

So my little effort, little DaisyMay cuddling her puppy! After I'd coloured her dress a nice deep red (very summery!) I wondered what paper I could use! A quick delve in the cupboard led me to some Basic Grey Scarlets Letter. So that some red paper, black card, Prima flowers, charm, bling and an Autumn Leaves ticket stamp I was done! Daisy May has been Copic'd ;-))

So that's my effort - come over and take a look and come and play. You don't need a Daisy May to play, the winner will receive a free download.

Candy winner!

I done the draw on the random picky thing (see Bev I DID remember!) and the winner is...

Evgenia!

Please email me your details and I'll post it out to you.

If I don't have any contact within 7 days I'll redraw it.

Here's my candy!

As promised!

Here is my blog candy! Only a day late!

What do you get? Well at least all what you can see plus whatever else I chuck in on a whim! As a guide there are chipboard albums, album kit, ribbon, lace, flowers, Heidi Swapp stamps, stamps, ink pad, brads, yadda yadda yadda. Actually there isn't a yadda yadda yadda but I kind of got fed up listing stuff!

How do you get it? Well leave me a comment and put a photo of my candy on your sidebar please. If you become a follower that's nice and it will get you two goes in the draw. I'll do the random generator thing. I'm prepared to ship to wherever the winner lives.

This post will stay at the top until 21 June. Why the 21st of June? Well its a longer day so I figure there's a chance of me remembering to deal with it! lol....you think I'm kidding?...

Oh Bev!

Hey Bloggettes! Where has summer gone? Its been wet and decidedly chilly here today - isn't it supposed to be summer? I mean Sunday is the longest day - and the day I draw my blog candy! So a couple of little pics for you - just to tide you over!

I'd been shopping the other day and my little assistant decided I needed a hand to unpack it! Unfortunately Tinkers idea of unpacking involves biting everything in the bags! When she discovered one of the things she was investigating was granary bread she had to get into the bag for a better look! and bite of it too.

Hang On I just need to reach a bit higher.... hang on its bread! Granary bread my favourite!

Right that's it one more step and I'm in!

Now this last photo is especially for Bev.... How do you think it looks Bev? ;))

Sunday already?

Someone tell me it's not? I mean where has the week gone? Well let me see... golf/cooking/golf/cooking then Missy Bitey Britches to the Vets.... hmmm I remember now! Its gone in a blur!

So as you may have gathered Harry is still in Bitey Britches mode, she got me a treat the other day too. OM tried to persuade me how nice she was being! Well to him yes! Me no chance! So hopefully it'll pass soon.... I'm running out of Elastoplast!

So what have I made this week? Well I did have to have a day off as I couldn't bend my bloody thumb! Its at times like that when you realise just how much you use your thumbs! lol

So a card for a boy! That makes a change - in fact I think its the first one I've showed... well for ages anyway. So this is a Sugar Nellie image painted with Distress INks and H2O's, EK Success punching, Basic Grey Papers and Autumn Leaves stamps. Oh a hand cut star too! Plus a dangler!

This little sweetie is my acrd for this coming weeks challenge over at Cute Daisy May This challenge is to include circles on your card. Well I was stumped! What twit thought this challenge up I thought.... oh that'll be me then....So I used a cicular sentiment and then a little punching a la Martha Stewart which has lots of little circles in it!

Et voila! So easy peasy in the end. To be honest it took me longer to find some blue paper to go with the image I'd coloured. ~note to self buy more blue paper~ I added a little strip of lace and she was done!

So there you are my 'news' as it is!

Don't forget my candy.... have you entered?

Tantalising Tuesday

Hi Bloggettes - well what a funny old day its been! Grey and well grey! At least it wasn't too wet. Always a bonus when you're playing golf in this country! Mind you I am quite used to playing the rain.... Doesn't mean I like it though. So to cheer you up a couple more pics of the sunshine! This one is a view from the balcony of our apartment looking up Clearwater Beach towards Pier 60 (for those of you lucky things who know the area). This was just before sunset and around 85f.... seems a long time ago now! I mean if we don't get some more sun soon I'll be as white as I was before we went!

This is a pond (oh really??) on one of the golf courses we played. Now (bear with me) this is a place called Stonegate but it used to be Poinciana Golf Course and that was the first course I ever played in Florida. Its very different now as they've built lots of houses on and around it. If you look hard you can see the little alligator in the pond!

~sighs~ and remembers the SUN!

Right back to this card malarky then. Did I tell you about the request for a wedding card featuring Mickey Mouse??? Well I declined that part of the request pretty sharpish I can tell you. So after I was given a free rein to come up with 'something nice'. That gave me a period to sit and scratch my head a bit (always works for me) and twiddle my thumbs!

So after doing all that I remembered the Black Tie paper I'd bought while on holiday. So that some coredinations card, lace, ribbon, charms etc etc I was done!

A little close up of the charm - I made it danglier (is that a word?) than usual.

Here's the card in its entirety. I also did an insert in the same script style font with appropriate weddingy wording.

I have to say I was quite pleased with it in the end. To add the customer was thrilled too - she did agree it was much better than something with Mickey Mouse on!

What a difference a week makes!

Hi Bloggettes!

Well I think my title says it all! Last week we went to Bridlington - it was lovely! Sunny and hot! Look at the folks on the beach! Nice clear blue skies.....

Today we went to Cleethorpes on a quick jaunt out! Check out those GREY skies and the brown sea! The photo doesn't quite pick up the rain.... or the fact is was blinking freezing!

Nor does it pick up the fact that I wished I had on a bigger thicker coat!

We shot back to the car moments after..... The joys of an English summer eh?

Saturday 6 June 2009

Oh my its winter!

Ooops where has the week gone to? Well three, yes three games of golf took up a pretty big part of it, then cooking...and well the time flew by. Here I am a week later and I finally come back!

So what else is new this week? Well it seems winter is back with us! Crikey its been mighty chilly today for sure. We didn't get all the rain we were promised, like we didn't have enough last night! I think Mr Weatherman is sending us more tomorrow - great I can't wait....

Oh we had a little visitor in the week, this little hedgehog came calling. He enjoyed the snack of cat food he had! Dudley wasn't quite so impressed as obviously he thought he should have it! Still its got to be tastier than slugs.

So a few cards to share with you - if you haven't nodded off! This is my card for this weeks challenge at Cute Daisy May This week the challenge is simply Pink and Green. So I've used Daisy May's little sister Bessie. She looks a little pensive, I wonder what she's done? Papers are some I've had for ages, Prima flowers and a sparkly brad. Punching a la Martha Stewart.

This is another pink and green card - I guess I kind of got on a roll here! I do think these colours go together especially well though. One of my current favourite stamps of the moment - a Gorguss Girl.

Do you remember me telling you I went on a demo workshop with Bev? Learning the distress ink painting technique? Well this is the card I made. I think the sketch is great and used it for my Cute Daisy May card too. So in its glory is my card! Bev posted the original on her blog the other day - If I'd been quick I could have had it on mine first! lol But I wasn'tso I didn't ;))

I plan on doing a few more like this - I really like the effect. I do still love my Copics though! I 'had' to buy some more watercolour paper today. Guess what I hope to be doing tomorrow? Well the forecast is pants!

Take care bloggettes!
